Artist Biography

Originally from New Orleans, Karen Stone is a photographer that is heavily influenced by her experiences growing up in “the city that care forgot”. From the landscape of the Mississippi River and majestic live oaks with flowing moss to the grand architecture of victorian homes that live next to skewed dilapidated houses. After moving to Austin in late 2021, Karen left her career in the wine industry to explore a creative path and found her home with photography. Karen is currently a student in the photography program at ACC with focus on studio, portraiture and photojournalism. She is currently working on several photographic endeavors, including a long term project about the impact of late stage capitalism and it’s effects on small towns in the American South.
