Opening Reception: The Barrio Fútbol Project

The Barrio Fútbol Project is a multidisciplinary, city-wide project exploring the intersection of art, culture, identity, and sport through the lens of East Austin’s street soccer movement.

Rooted in the cultural movement surrounding Austin's Barrio Club de Fútbol, the exhibition portion of the project extends the story beyond the pitch through the perspectives of local artists. Through painting, photography, sculpture, design, and other visual forms, the exhibition explores the role of fútbol in shaping identity, fostering belonging, and bringing people together through shared experience.

Participating artists include F.art, Isaiah Castillo, Juan Garcia, Lila Hudgins, Alie Jackson, Ryan Kutnick, Raquel Natalicchio, Hada Perez, Annie Purpura, Iván M. Reyes, Oscar A. Rivera, STNLOW, and Zamorai. Together, their work offers multiple perspectives on the cultural and communal significance of the game, celebrating the people, traditions, and relationships that give the movement meaning.

The Barrio Fútbol Project will be on view at Bolm Arts from November…
